"Sad to say, just about any computer occupation can be outsourced to a foreign country because there are a lot of talented and well educated individuals all over the world.The only type of work that I can think that would resist outsourcing would be something like a field technician who performs work on computers and networks that requires them to be physically present. They would install hardware upgrades and to wire new equipment."

"Having been in the computer field for over 15 years now, every job is subject to outsourcing. I've been a consultant for nearly all of those years, so I have exposure to a lot of different companies and investors. The best thing to do is find a company that is resistant to outsourcing their IT work. This is starting to happen more and more, especially in the Silicon Valley. I definitely see the trend changing back to keeping the work local. A big part of that is intellectual property laws outside of the US not being as stringent. The other part is that the cost of doing business overseas is increasing exponentially. It used to be you could hire a programmer in India for a year at the same salary you had to pay a US programmer for a month. It's equalizing now with salaries in the US dropping and salaries in South Asia increasing. Companies are also finding that if they hire people in different states (other than California), they can get the same cost as off-shoring.A lot of my clients are pulling their IT work back in house. Even more of the venture capital firms I work with are looking only for start-ups that do all of their engineering and development right here in the US. Most of the investors don't even want to see servers hosted outside of the borders.My advice would be to research companies and find which ones are dedicated to hiring local talent and retaining their employees. Market sector doesn't matter so much. I have clients in every vertical (finance, high-tech, bio-tech, manufacturing, etc.). So, find what you love to do with computers and then find a company that has the philosophy of keeping IT in-house."

"First of all, is is "Are there", not "Is there" because you are asking about a plural number of things.And repair of computers cannot be outsourced.Systems analysis cannot be well outsourced much as inmost cases the outsource vendors have no idea what we want and have little idea what a good user interface looks like. There needs to be people in the buying countries to tell the outsource companies what to do and to make sure they do it right.Myself, as working for a smaller company, we have insourced our programing as out attempt at outsourcing took far too long. But in our case, the software is an adjunct to our primary product. But we need to make so many different variants for out clients that the time lag to deal with a company in India was unacceptable. And they could never grasp what we needed done.. We need to be able to review results on a weekly basis. My point here is to look for smaller companies that do custom solutions for their own, often not primarily computer related products, and where they need to be very nimble. In our case, we make professional audio equipment but some of it has a micro controller in it and a GUI for setting it up."

"There's no such thing as a lucrative online job. Anyone who tells you different on here is trying to sell/scam you.They'll all start out with "I didn't believe either" or "My daughter was scammed" and then tell you about a site THEY found which promises to earn you income.Don't believe any of it."

"There are many options, and a lot of dead ends. With sites like inboxdollars.com and sendearnings.com you can try out products and services for a few dollars. They also send out emails that you get a few cents to open. Just make sure that you use a separate email address for them to save yourself from possible spam (I get 60pcs a day!). Another route you can go is to sign up with a survey company. They are a bit harder to make money with, but could be worth it. Check this for to survey companies:Make sure you do your research and good luck!"

"I do not understand why people insist on getting on here and discouraging others by saying "everything is a scam" and "anyone who says different is lying!" That to me is just a lazy person who probably tried a legitimate business but was to lazy to do work and thought money was going to magically rain on their heads. That is not how any business or job is going to work. You are always going to have to do some work to produce an income! People get into these businesses thinking they are just going to get rich quick with no effort on their part and when it (obviously) doesn't work out that way they yell "SCAM". Please do yourself a favor and do not believe these people. There is legitimate ways to earn a income from home, the internet, ect. But you will have to put in a effort in whatever you do! "You will hear of a lot of people who claim to have found this work and are making a fortune. The only way they really make money is by getting others to pay them to find work - not by actual work.There are data entry jobs available, but they are generally only available very locally. The pace of business today prohibits the type of data entry you remember from years back. However, there are always businesses which need to take analog data (maybe handwritten job applications, for example) and turn them into computer entries. Even with optical character recognition, there is still a need to data enter or verify what the system read. Occasionally, this work can be done from home once you've proven yourself with the employer. Look for evening shifts for data entry (often found thru temp agencies) and once you've built a reputation, see if their servers can be accessed remotely so you could work from home. I think more and more of these jobs will be done at home, but they will extremely short time-lines, what comes in today needs to be in the system tonight, for example, with none of the flexibility you remember.Good luck."

"The work from home jobs that aren't scams actually require work on your part - and if you're in need of money soon then you're likely to be sorely disappointed in any of those as well. Most of the legit opportunities out there take time to build - so if someone makes an outrageous claim of income it probably isn't true ( and those that are true sure didn't make that kind of money when they first began ).Time & effort required - but do your own research on what is best for you, don't take the advice of myself and others as gospel from this type of public website.I have other ideas that may help - one of them is an online opportunity but another is one that will require a little effort to market yourself - try some data entry for local businesses, many of them don't have the time to do it in-house and will gladly pay someone else to do it. Professionals are a good place to start, lawyers, doctors, chiropractors, etc - they need their "in-house" folks doing other things rather than busy work."
