online dating

Online dating or Internet dating is an example of a dating system and allows individuals, couples and groups to meet online and possibly develop a romantic or sexual relationship. Net dating services provide un-moderated matchmaking through the use of personal computers, the Internet, or even cell phones.

Such services generally allow people to provide personal information, then search for other individuals using criteria such as age range, gender and location. Most sites allow members to upload photos of themselves and browse the photos of others. Sites may offer additional services, such as webcasts, online chat, and message boards. Sites sometimes allow people to register for free but may offer services which require a monthly fee.

Many sites are broad-based, with members from a variety of backgrounds looking for different types of relationships. Other sites are more specific, based on the type of members, interests, location, or relationship desired.

libra asked: "I met this guy off of one of the online dating services, everything has been good so far...but he is currently going through a divorce for the second time (he 40 and i'm 26), I dont have a problem with the age difference because i have always dated older men. my problem is he's been hurt not once but twice so now it hard for him to open up and trust.... I'm currently at the point of giving up, not only because of his emotionally rollercoaster, but he like to make promises but never fulfills them..what do you think this is a case of?"

inluvwithb replied: "obviously he's not ready for a relationship, also you have to take his word for it that he was hurt and not at fault. you should probably move on and get with someone who does not have so many problems. it doesn't seem like a good start to a relationship."
sunshinysusan replied: "=it doesn't appear he is on an emotional roller coaster. I am not as concerned about him getting divorced for the second time as I am about all of the broken promises which destroys trust. Chances are he is the type of person who could never open up and trust. Remember a zebra never loses his stripes. Take care of yourself and move on to someone who deserves your love and you don't have to work so hard. Best wishes."
Enlightenme! asked: "I would say most of my dates (80-90%) come from online dating sites since it is more convenient (although I do not want to be dependent on it). However, some sites are riddled with spammers, so it definitely has it's faults. The traditional way of meeting people (face to face at parties, etc.) is still probably preferred. What is your take on this? Which method do you prefer and what proportion of your dates come from online sites? Thanks."

Jonnyboy replied: "I've never done dates online before because I have no idea what they look like or what their personality is like but i mean I have no doubt that it is good in some circumstances but normal face to face is more of my thing. I just wonder what finding dates online are like?"
Paige replied: "i met my hubby on and we do date daily ;)"
scorpioblaque replied: "i've never done it"
cathy replied: "Not yet. My lover is met at a wealthy men dating site , I didn't pay to this service but just put my profile on that website. He picks me up."
ML replied: "In my time, I've met plenty of girls online but it never seem like dating. It seemed like a hook-up for sex only. However, doing more online dating than meeting a nice woman the normal way, such as in the mall or at a cafe, will make you lose your style with approaching women. Lower your percentage of online dating and increase your confidence in approaching women."
builtandsexy asked: "I'm interested in starting an online business that works. I would consider a dating site, casino site, or other websites that work. I would like to know how I can get stated. I have lots of online experiance. I have looked at many different companies that provide online dating, and casino sites built and read to run. How legit are they, and are their claims for success accurate? They average in price from $499-$12,000. I don't have a lot of money especially to throw away in a scam. What are my best options. I've done ebay, and a few of the online marketing scams that don't work. I'm billingual, English and Spanish, have a two year general degree working on my B.a in business management. I'm receptive to working with other people on a new idea that we can market online, have a few ideas myself just don't know how to get started, can someone lead me in the right direction?"

golden duck replied: "Starting an online business is not at all a great deal!!! However making it profitable is the real challenge for any online marketer. If you want to make money online, that's great, but you need a system. You need to follow the strategies which are aleready tried n tested & are used by the champions who could make their fortune on the internet. Don't re-invent the wheel - don't make the mistake of wasting time and money in developing a product.Because you know nothing (I believe so) at the moment about internet marketing. So you must work with someone who can prove their system - be cautious and careful. You need to crawl first before you can walk or run - the best way to learn is to become an Affiliate Marketer. The main advantage with affiliate marketing is that -suppose the product you are promoting is not selling well due to some reason, you can drop that product & chose something else to sell.In short as an affiliate you are essentially a free-lance marketer - not bound by long-term contracts having a freedom to review / revise / remould your plans as per the demand in the market . (To see the changing demand in the market have a look at these & )There are lots of people out there there -- people just like you -- who are enjoying the financial freedom that comes with successful affiliate marketing."
Liane Bate replied: "I own a website on profitable home based business opportunities and have been in business for the past 10 months now. I have earned money from all the affiliate programs involved, but nothing to brag about so far. There are others who have quit their day jobs to do this same business fulltime or parttime from home! You must understand that it takes time, energy, and consistent effort and action. The person who replied first is totally correct in saying that you must have an understanding of internet marketing before jumping into anything. That's why the program I'm in has been so great - it takes you through a 30-day process and teaches you how to market a business online. We are told that linking to casino sites is a bad thing, as they are often seen as spam sites, but I guess there are successful people doing that as well.I think the online dating business is a good route to go, but not until you have that internet marketing knowledge base, and I wouldn't know where to direct you there anyway. With this program, the cost to join is minimal, but the advertising costs can be expensive, but you only do what you can afford at your own pace. The great thing about the program is that is you get a fully customizable website built for you within 24hrs ready to take orders as soon as you sign up. This is an internet marketing, online money making type system, but the fabulous thing is that your site is yours, and is fully customizable. You can use the 30-day program to your advantage to learn exactly what it takes to market a business online, and then change your site to whatever you want it to be - online dating, casino, or whatever you want it to be. This program will show you what you need to do to be successful at owning and maintaining an online business. You must be willing to put some work into it and cannot expect to see results overnight. Anything that claims that is likely a scam. If you are willing to do the time, you will see results!Check out my link, and see what you think!Hope that helps,Liane Bate"
epicwolf asked: "Ok. When you go on a date in real life, most of the time you're dating a stranger and you're trying to get to know a person. When dating online, you talk to them eaither in chat rooms or IM. Then you guys decided to meet up and go on an actual date. A lot of people think that dating online is eaither sick or taboo. I understand that some people lied online about eaither their age or what they look like. But what happened if what they say is the truth? Then when they went on dates and still chat online. They end up getting married and such. People asked them how they meet and they said "We met online." After they said that, people began to crinch. So is dating online a wrong thing to do? Even if it works out really well? Why is it such a taboo to date online?"

Jennifer N replied: "Not good/"
entangledhere replied: "I met my husband online! At first, when people asked, I wouldn't tell them that, because it was "taboo," as you say. But I'm comfortable telling people now, because it's become more acceptable. I may have never met him, had it not been for the internet, so I'm proud of it now.Dating online is fantastic, I think. You aren't going out with strangers and having an uncomfortable night. You can really get to know someone pretty well via e-mail, messenging, etc. Then, when you meet them, it's a much easier situation. People are much more honest and open online than in person, so you can know someone even better through dating online, I think."
angel122202 replied: "I do not necessarily think that it is bad, but just as in person you must be very careful of who you decided to date, and make sure you know enough about that person to meet them. I also believe that the first meeting should be in a public place so that the other person has no idea where you live, and there are tons of people around to prevent injury then get to know each other from there, then you can become serious."
instantly_oatmeal replied: "Well, the internet is nothing more than access to another way of communication and getting to know people. However, it is also what is associated with the internet that people might be acting that it is taboo. News of liars, pedophiles, rapists, prostitutes, and a bunch of other sort of people bring a negative aura to the online experience. It probably isn't the taboo of online dating but rather the influence of what else is found online.Besides, it is still relatively new compared to meeting someone at a bar, and the bar thing is well more acceptable. Just give it time."
Brian replied: "I think meeting on line is just fine, there are plenty of nice people on it ("you're" here aren't you?). I just don't think dating somebody you've never met offline or even talked to is crazy. Think of the Internet like a bar, but easier to find people. If you only see a person at the bar every Friday night, you're not dating!"
Stella Blue replied: "I met my boyfriend on line and he is the best guy I ever met. I answered his ad because he had a couple of concert tickets to a soldout show and he was looking for a nice girl (like me). People cringe when they hear of on-line dating because they think it's sleezy and dangerous. Or, because they think you were just looking for a hookup. But I agree with you. It is a good safe way to meet & get to know people. Especially when you post an ad, describe yourself & your interests honestly, already you will meet people who are probably similar, and interested in you, too. Much better than trying to meet strangers in a bar, for example. Dating online is not a wrong thing to do. Just be honest and smart about it. And meet in a public place for the first time."
cross_countryjumper replied: "That is how I met my fiancee.....I think as time goes on it will become more acceptable. I did it because I'm not one for the Bar Scene, and when friends tried to fix me up it always went badly. I guess the main thing is to find someone who is honest! You run into liars in bars as well as on line...."
ask_me replied: "nowell it depends, like the person was lieing to u or she/he isnt a good person. And u would know person out of the net. You wont even know if there lieing or not. thats my opinion."
CafeKitty replied: "Well, I have met the love of my life on the internet. I don't think there is anything wrong with it! He lives 2000 miles away from me (yes, we have met in person); how else would we have found each other? Yet, I believe we were meant to, somehow...I agree with what others said; I think as people get used to it, it will become less "taboo". I hope that someday, years from now, I can proudly say that I met my husband online."
Vane Carr asked: "A friend of mine is investing a lot of time, money, and resources into launching an online dating website. What would be the best way to launch the site? How best should it be marketed? Where and how should it be marketed online? What kind of offline marketing should be used? Anybody know anything about Ad Networks and how a site can generate revenue from them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Thanks for all the answers so far!!"

It's a free targeted advertising (based on you selecting various categories you would like to be included in) and link exchange network. You put other websites text ads on your page and yours appears on others. And it really is 100% free, forever. While it's not something that guarantees traffic it also doesn't cost anything, so why not try it?Good luck!"
