"I do not understand pre paid legal....Seeing that most lawyers charge at least $300 to $500 an hour and usually need several hours on anything they work on. What could a consumer really be getting for $36 a month?Also, it seems like the people I have met who sell pre paid legal are all raw raw, like it is some sort of cult?"

"Yes, it is a typical pyramid scheme for sellers, er, they prefer "network marketing". But still, yeah, I have noted on other web sites the similarities between "network marketing" folks and those who end up in cults. In some cases, it can really be difficult to tell the types of organizations apart.In part, the cost works because you pay every monthly even if you don't use it - in 2 years, you will have paid ~ 1000 dollars, even if you don't use it. So in the third year, when you do, everyone will still be ahead.Also, you are probably getting access to some of the lower priced and maybe lower skilled attorneys.In fact, a lot of law work is transactional, and is being outsourced to India these days. I can't say about pre-paid because I don't know if they do that, but that is another way to make the dollar go much further."

"The ones I've seen only cover the basics. This is stuff like making a will, adoption, name change, stuff like that that you don't really have to go to court for (or if you do, it's a quick in and out thing).We did this one year for an adoption we had planned. It only covered the lawyer's fees, but we still had many other fees we had to pay. IMO, it's really only good if you have something planned you will need a lawyer for."

"Although prepaid legal services uses Amway style marketing to sell the product, the legal services themselves are neither a scam or a scheme. It is a legal plan that covers every legal need one may have. Remember, "cover" does not mean "free". Many plan benefits are free (lawyer letters, contract review, traffic ticket defense, to name a few) and whatever is not expressly free is given a 25% benefit off the attorneys regular fees. And no, I do not Sell PrePaid Legal services."

"There are two kinds of pp legal. The ones like ARAG or GE that you get thru your employer or union, are worthwhile. They generally fully cover basic things like house closings, wills, adoptions, uncontested divorces, etc, & partially cover some litigation, like collection defense & under some plans, bankruptcy & lien & foreclosure defense & even contested divorces. The kinds that are privately sold generally do little more than provide a phone consultation and a 25% discount on attorney fees. That's almost worthless."

"Pre-paid legal services has been around for some time like veterinarian pre-paid pet health care. Unfortunately, both pre-pays have fallen in popularity since there is limited providers in these plans so a subscriber cannot easily visit another attorney and expect that his services will be paid accordingly. And you also have to consider the fact, that most subscribers do not plan to get into any trouble -- civilly speaking and when it happens, they just pay the retainer fee upfront.Since your income will be based on commissions derived from the initial sign-ups and renewals of these prepays; and are subject to unnoticed termination by clients, you may want to reconsider accepting the commission-only opportunity and instead, seek a more bankable salaried position.Good luck!"

"This company is completely legit. Sounds like a great opportunity, no? But you have to think who are you actually gonna sell these types of services to? The best place to market this company....JAIL!Criminals most likely are the only ones to ever buy this. Businesses usually have retained attorneys, and most people don't want an extra monthly expense, to some attorney no less, unless they have some legal matter. Unless you know a lot of criminal types, this is probably a bad idea."

"Sorry that I don't know of another VALID or HIGHLY ACCLAIMED service. As a member for 5yrs + I have had some bad experiences with the service BUT 5yrs ... It is worth every cent and more. Where else or who else has had so many NATIONAL AND GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED PUBLICATIONS write about them in a POSITIVE light? Am I biased? Oh heck yes! I have friends who have personally saved thousands in the first months of service. BTW, have you checked out thier earnings after they launched their IDT product? Funny ... a year after they changed for the better, a national insurance firm tried to copy their foot steps. Ever since then the media has been a frenzy and buzz. PPL and Krol BLAZED that trail and all the others seem to be the embers to their FIRE."

Some people who answered you are misformed though because the company does help with traffic issues, family law, and criminal law, on top of all the other services."
