travel bags

lyannamalik asked: "I am a student in Malaysia and i was assigned to create a marketing strategy plan. My product is a bag [any bag, but I'm thinking of travel bag] and the plan is to sell the product overseas. My choice of countries are France, Germany, UK, Poland, Sweden, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, Japan and Australia.Which country do you think is the best to choose to sell the product and what do you think my travel bag should have for it to stand out from other travel bags?"

marc_et_claude_89797788788415 replied: "When I buy a replacement travel bag I look for the following:Durability - Airlines apparently drag your luggage to the plane now, then run it over with the plane. At least that is the way it looks when it pops out of the baggage return caruosel.Organization - You live out of that bag while you are on a trip, having lots of storgage compartments that are easily accessible is a must. How about a series of zippable dividers in the main compartment to separate pants, shirts, dirty clothes etc...Visability - Nearly everyhone has a black rectangular roller pack these days. A lot of people have resorted to putting paint, tape etc, on the bags so they can see them on the carousel. Consider having a bold design emblem on the bag that really stands out. Or, better yet offer a line of replacable zip on/zip off front panels that people can buy to make their bag unique. (the large front bottom panel could be removed and replaced with a standardized panel that would be different colours, patterns, or even personalized designs)"
conley39 replied: "Light weight, durable, and no wasted space on the inside (some bags have support structure that cut back on usable space inside). Preferably sized to allow carry-on, but for some trips checked bags are necessary. I'm not sure there's much you can do with a bag that someone hasn't already included in a design. A lot of people use tape, ribbons, or some other marking to make their bags more identifiable on the luggage carousels - you could do something with a see through pocket on the outside where some custom labeling could be placed to allow the bag to be identified. You would need something on both sides though."
Salma asked: "i was wondering if they do because i travel a lot, and i could save the extra money on the extra weight and the multiple bags. please answer this question only if you have actually used them, i have heard many things on websites and i can't believe any of them. thank you in advance."

griffyn10941 replied: "They dont work as well as the regular space bags that you use with the vacuum, I does give you a little more space in your luggage but not much, especially if you are a good packer. Space bags work by removing the air and compressing. So unless you are packing pillows, blankets and bulky sweaters you are not saving that much space if you pack right"
natalina replied: "Someone bought these for me but they really don't work any better than just putting your clothes in a clear garbage bag and sitting on it to push the air out... I think they're a waste. Your baggage will weigh just as much, it's only letting the air out, and you have to be really really careful about folding your clothes because it will get really wrinkled in there.I'd try clear bags first. Then, if you really need the space then go for it, but it wasn't worth it to me."
Mary O replied: "space bags will not save anything as to the weight because "squashed" clothing weighs the same. I went on a two week trip and had serious limits as to how much the bag could weigh and the size of it. I found that with self restraint, you can get two weeks worth in one bag if you pack properly. Go to ask.com and type in how to pack a suitcase. It involves stacking shirts together and folding all into one package. (Sleeves to center, bottom half folded up) I own the space bags and do not like the travel ones. You have to really work at rolling out the air manually and I ended up with wrinkles. The above mentioned technique got me all the way to Europe with all my shirts unwrinkled."
Sarah A replied: "we go on cruises a lot and my mom just uses regular ziploc bags and roles them. they are cheaper than the vacuum bags and they work better"
C0TintheACT! asked: "I will be traveling abroad with my husband & baby. The bags I will have are :2 backpacks for baby stuff and documents, cash etc1 laptop bag3 BIG boxes (to be checked in)How do we move them around >>from the parking lot,>>in the airport between transits etcMy baby needs to be held, she will NOT be in a stroller.Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks Leigh W .. but how about from the car(long term parking) to the terminal is quite a walk!! No carts there!"
Question posted courtesy of:
Leigh W replied: "Almost every airport will have carts that you can transport your stuff on - put 2 boxes on one that your husband pushes, 1 on the other that you push. Your husband puts one backpack on with your travel docs, you put on the one with the baby stuff. He carries the laptop bag, or you put it on the cart with your one box. You hold the baby while he talks with the airline attendant when checking in. good luck!"
Jessica t replied: "you can usally pull up to the curb at the airport then you can unload and then you or your husband can take the car out the parking while the other waits with the things"
neo_adroit asked: "I am new to Frankfurt. And I want to purchase a Travel bag. I had been to Main-taunus Zentrum and Nord West Zentrum. I saw some shops and they're quite expensive!. I might hav missed some shops. Can any one tell me where can I find?"

schatzi replied: "C&A is an amazing department store and everything is usually cheap - you should check there!"
t_maia2000 replied: "Just like The baby penguin pointed out: check out supermarkets. Lara asked: "A student was heading home for the holidays. When she got to the airline counter, she presented her ticket to New York. And as she gave the agent her luggage, she made the remark, "I'd like you to send my green suitcase to Hawaii, and my red suitcase to London." The confused agent said, "I'm sorry, we can't do that." "Really? I am so relieved to hear you say that because that's exactly what you did to my luggage last year!""

By Martinne Geller NEW YORK (Reuters) - Last year at this time, Kathy Johnson and her husband traveled to London and Paris, where she spent about $2,000 on a shiny, red Louis Vuitton shoulder bag and a matching charm without much thought. This year...

One of the worst feelings in the whole world is to be away from home on holiday and discovering that your luggage has been stolen. Or, perhaps the bag that contains your laptop computer has seemingly grown legs and walked away, never to be seen again. Or, worst of all, your wallet or handbag that contains your money, traveller’s checks, passport.
