Summer vacation (also called summer holidays or summer break ) is a vacation in the summertime between school years in which students are off school typically between 6 weeks and 2 months, depending on the country and district.

Rosa L asked: "I am looking to travel during the spring/summer and am interested in finding travel sites/deals that offer great savings on all-inclusive packages(hotel+flight). Any suggestions? Also, does anyone have any destination recommendations? Thanks for the help!"

Helicia replied: "I used EF College Break for my trip to Greece this summer. It included Flights/hotels/breakfasts and other stuff. I have been to Paris, and I recommend it. Also you should check out Nice and Berra Ritzz which are also in France. I think kayak also gives you discounts for booking hotels/flights together, but im not positive. Oh, and if you are booking something online, always check for discount codes before you book, because you might as well save some money. I have EF College Br.'s discount code, its hesseln1188 and it gets you $50 off. I also saw a discount code for Southwest floating arround too, so I guess some airlines do it too. Good luck, and have fun!"

hibby76 asked: "I LOVE to grab my backpack and travel! I have some discretionary income and lots of free time and flexibility in my schedule. Where are the best places to search if you want to go somewhere soon for a great price? It seems like most "last minute deals" aren't much of a deal, and that others are simply advertising scams. Thanks!"

nomadgirl1 replied: "I like site59.com. It lets you create your package (air, car, hotel - all three, just two, etc) and they have packages for the upcoming weekend and the weekend following. They also have a link for trips under $250."
aatcheaptravel replied: "tryyou can find awsome deals, you sound like perfect for be in the travel business, I'm a travel Agent and I receive perks all the time, I travel like a Queen. And I save a lots of money.Visit my web site just in case!!!!Be free to email at:"
southrntrnzplnt replied: "Last minute deals are scams for the most part, it draws you in thinking you are getting a good deal, when really you are not. The further out you book the more chances of getting a cheaper fare are. In the airline industry the discount fares sell first. The closer to departure, the more expensive it gets. Cruises Ive seen with good last minute deals just to fill up the cabins and some hotels, but for the most part its just the opposite. The only way it works to just pack and go is really to work in the industry. The airline I worked for allowed their employee's to fly for free, plus we got the deals on cruises, all inclusive resorts etc at last minute prices just to fill up space. Its the last minute people that make the money for the industry. Not planning ahead gives the companies a heads up because most times its an urgent matter and the person is willing to almost pay whatever it takes to get to where they need to be. If your schedule is flexible, then try to plan ahead. Being spontaneous in the travel industry and wanting it cheap dont mix. Now that airlines no longer offer stand-by travel its hard to just grab and go unless you just jump in your car and hit the road. Try traveling mid-week. Weekends are only cheaper for car rentals. Summer is cheaper than fall of course, but just shop around. Sign up for Travel Zoo. They send a weekly e-mailer about what deals are out there. Try to fly out of a hub like Atlanta, Philedelphia, Chicago, DFW...etc. Those are the airports that will have the biggest discounts. Little feeder's like Buffalo, Augusta, Gainesville etc will not have the specials you are looking for. Be careful booking on travel websites. They charge excessive fee's and do not offer the best routes or connection times. Make sure you READ THE FARE RULES because they will lock you into the trip and you can not for any reason change your itinerary. If you are someone who uses a credit card for business or pleasure, try to get a rewards program card and be loyal to a hotel chain or airline. You can redeem points earned for nearly free travel and get bonuses when you sign up. To redeem points you do again have to be flexible and book in advanced in most situations depending on the destination. If its a highly traveled route, book well in advance."
Charles L asked: "I am a frequent leisure traveler. What I want is to have great travel deals (accommodation, car rentals, ferries, casinos, cruises, airlines) and I do not want to waste my time hunting the Internet. Is there a way that I can have great travel deals without spending time?"
Question posted courtesy of:
Dev replied: "Try this website : or"
Vanessa M replied: "Charles,There are several Web sites available today where you can get great deals. However, all the Web sites are biased towards the suppliers that pay them the most. Not to mention the enormous time that you waste drifting through Web pages. Still, all is not lost!!! Recently, i discovered a truly amazing desktop tool - Tafri. You can download it on your desktop like you download MSN messenger. It automatically displays really great deals for air tickets, hotel rooms, car rental and what have you. I find this tool a great personal assistant. It's like someone tailoring the deals for you. You can set your own preferences. Based on your preferences, the deals are tailored for you.You do not have to type messy URLs, visit Web sites, enter data here and there. It is all there right on your desktop. A truly great innovation. I simply love it. You can download it fromHappy traveling!Van"
Kemal D asked: "Me and my husband planning for a leisure vacation. I want to know the best places to visit this season and the cheap travel deals."

World Traveller replied: "Greece, Italy and Spain (more specifically the Mediterranean countries) are almost cheap at this period of the year. They are too expensive if you want to come in summer or winter. But this period, until mid-May you can have qualitative vacations and without having to spend too much money in these countries...Too many things to see and too little money to give, this time of the year!!!"
Dana E replied: "Many vacation packages are available for leisure vacation. Many online sites are offering many vacation packages at lowest prices. Here i am giving the some list of vacation packages and the discounts you can get. Plan it well and have a memorable vacation."

evilsouthern replied: "South Carolina is a great place to vacation. We have everything. Beaches, lakes, mountains, water parks, historic sites, plantations, battleships, racetracks, shopping, a multitude of restaurants, golf courses, (adult or miniature) and festivals.Trying to keep a vacation to a budget can be stressful. Most of South Carolina's historic sites are inexpensive to see (but well worth the trip). From Rainbow Row & the Battery in downtown Charleston, to the U.S.S. Yorktown (retired aircraft carrier) & Fort's Moultrie & Sumter in the Harbor. From Beaufort, (shrimpboats & Gullah traditions) to Edisto Island, Isle of Palms & Sullivan's Island (small uncrowded beaches) to Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasent (Many movie's have been shot here) to Brook Green Gardens (beautiful flowers & sculptures). Myrtle Beach is a legend;.. Water parks, Ripleys Aquarium, Nascar Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe(in the shape of a pyramid-(you can go in & look around without eating- *food is pricey)...They are opening a Hard Rock Theme Park there in June also)..Alligator Adventure & the boardwalk at Barefoot Landing, House of Blues, Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede (full course dinner plus a live cowboy/indian old west show while you eat)..Lots of bars, including the Bowery on Ocean Blvd, where country group Alabama got their start.Darlington Raceway & Darlington Dragstrip are just 70 miles from the beach and the big boys of Nascar race there every May, Mother's Day weekend usually.Columbia (state capital) still has cannon balls lodged in the state house that can be seen from the street. A huge zoo & botanical garden. The mountain region has water falls, hiking, canoeing, old west themed parks/towns. Glorious scenery & even snow skiing in some places. Various festivals happen around the state at different times of the year.(Most are in May & June). Flowertown festival (Summerville) is beautiful. Grits festival (St. George) is all about the grits..Hell Hole Swamp festival (Jamestown) is about old time moon shine runners..Catfish festival (St. Stephens)...The Shrimp Festival (McClellanville)...The Okra festival (Irmo) is believe it or not a festival dedicated to ..OKRA...As far as a place to stay...There are plenty of clean, nice, budget friendly hotels. There are also hotels that have indoor water parks & bowling alleys right in the lobby. Most of the areas & campgrounds around the beaches either rent houses or rv's. Try our South Carolina State Parks...a few tents & sleeping bags or an air mattress or two..or rv's or travel trailors...camp sites are inexpensive. (Fully equipped Cabins are also available at some locations)...Bathhouses with warm showers are at every location & the parks are usually not crowded & within a short driving distance to most attractions. They are patrolled by Rangers & secured at night with a gated combination lock for the guest security and convinence.Koa campgrounds are similiar in prices, but don't have the activities or offer hiking, fishing, waterfalls, beaches, etc...the way the State Parks do.Where-ever you decide to vacation, I hope you have a grand time. Keep the State Parks in mind, no matter which state you visit. I think you'll be surprised at what you find. If you'd like to find out more or have questions...click on my picture, which will take you to my homepage & e-mail me."

St. Petersburg is a nice beach and Tampa is close by for Busch Gardens. On the east coast: Cocoa Beach is nice (that's were I go, closest for me). You can visit the Space Center. The Cocoa Beach Pier has a restaurant (food OK) which has a greatview to watch the surfers. St. Augustine has lots to do with all the shops and the fort.Have fun!"
